The short version

Who I am

SennaLabs is run by me, Ayrton Ager, in the United Kingdom. I decide how the information on this site is used, which makes me the “data controller” under UK data protection law.

If you have any question about your information, email me at sennalabsco@gmail.com.

What I collect

When you use the contact form

Your name, your email address and your message. If you choose to add them, your phone number and the name of your business too.

If you’re a client

When we start working together, I give you a client code and keep a short record of your name, your business and the services I’ve set up for you. That lets the client services page recognise you.

When you use the client services page

The client code you enter, which part of your work the request is about, and your message. Your code is checked against my client list on Netlify’s servers. Nothing is saved on your device.

When you email me directly

Whatever is in your email, along with your email address.

When you visit the site

Like every website, the services that deliver this one see basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. They need these to send the page to your screen. I don’t use them to work out who you are.

Why I use it

I use what you send me to read your enquiry, reply to it and, if we decide to work together, to talk through the project with you. The law calls this “steps taken at your request before entering into a contract”, and where that doesn’t quite fit, my “legitimate interest” in answering people who get in touch.

If you’re a client, I use your client record and anything you send through the client services page to look after the work I’ve done for you. That’s part of our agreement, which the law calls “performance of a contract”.

The technical details above are used to run the site and keep it secure, which is also a legitimate interest.

I won’t send you marketing emails, and I don’t use your information to make automated decisions about you.

Cookies

This site doesn’t set any cookies or store anything on your device, and it doesn’t use analytics or advertising tools. If that ever changes, I’ll update this page and ask for your permission first where the law requires it.

Who else handles it

I don’t sell or share your information. A few services help run the site and my inbox, and they only handle it to do that job for me:

Some of these companies are based in the United States. When your information goes to them, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK and US “data bridge” or approved contract terms.

How long I keep it

If an enquiry doesn’t turn into work, I delete it within 12 months of our last contact. If we do work together, I keep our messages for as long as the project needs them, then for up to six years after, because that’s how long UK tax rules expect business records to be kept.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can ask me to:

Just email sennalabsco@gmail.com. It’s free, and I’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

The site is served over a secure connection, and I only keep what I need. No system is perfectly secure, but I take sensible steps to protect the accounts your information passes through.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
